We always aim to make XING easy to use for our members. To this end, we’ve simplified things somewhat when it comes to posting job ads. Nowadays information needs to be readily available, so it’s vital that we provide it in such a way that it’s easy to find.
Find job ads faster
When people are looking for a job on XING, they will undoubtedly look for certain terms or keywords. So it’s important that keywords are used when creating job ads as the description in the ad itself might not always contain keywords people search for. Our research into the topic has shown that job ads with more relevant keywords are found much more easily than ones with less keywords.
Some time ago we added a notification box next to the keywords field so that people posting job ads were aware of their benefits and how they can improve the number of visits their ad receives.
Helping hand
Job ads aren’t necessarily posted by specialists such as recruiters, and even they may not always come up with the right keywords for an ad. We therefore decided to give recruiters a helping hand by adding a new feature that was provided by our Content Discovery team, that suggests suitable keywords based on the job title.
After entering the title of the vacancy, the person posting the job ad will receive keyword suggestions below the actual keyword box. To add a suggested keyword, all you need to do is click on the plus symbol in the box containing the keyword you want to add. Keywords already entered in the box are automatically removed from the list of suggestions, and it is of course possible to enter your own keywords.
Keyword suggestions for job ads
Conclusion
XING’s new keyword suggestion feature for its Jobs section makes it easier for people to find job ads.
After shipping this feature to our platform a few weeks ago, we’ve noticed an average of two more keywords being added to job ads than before the feature launch. We’re really happy that people are making use of this great feature and will continue working on other suggestion and recommendation features.
