Closed Beta Version of XING Developer Portal now LIVE

| Posted by

The first users can now log in to dev.xing.com with their XING login credentials and access all the information and documentation they need to get started with the API as well as a personal dashboard allowing them to create and manage apps.

Developers receive a separate test key for each application they want to develop. If they then want to publish an app, they can apply for a key that provides access to the productive system. This particular key only contains the access rights actually required for the scope of the app itself and is activated by two PINs – one sent by email, the other sent by mail.

One of the developer portal’s highlights is the API Explorer, which allows developers to test API calls and provides them with a better understanding of how the XING API works.

What is the XING API?

If you’re still not sure what the XING API is all about, don’t worry as we’ve put together a short video where XING staff explain the basics (sorry, the video is only available in German).

  1. Hi,

finally the long awaited API is live :)

I have read the documentation but I did not find how it is possible to retrieve the data from the XING Share-Button (how many times a blogpost / url was shared)?

    Thank you for your information.

    Sven.

  2. There seems to be a problem retrieving profile data. When I do not restrict the result to specific fields, I get my own profile as expected. When I restrict it to certain fields, my data is mixed up with data from another profile. There *definitely* is information in the result that does NOT belong to my profile. Just to let you know.

  3. Great Information, but how we can join the dev. Portal?
We often mailed for registration but didn´t receive any feedback from your side.
You say: “The first users can now log in to dev.xing.com with their XING login credentials”.
I tried, but my Login credentials doesn´t work.
So – if the portal is not a fake – please give me advice or pls. manage access with my (at least 10 Year old and every day used) XING credentials.

    Thank You and kind regards,

    Dirk Goelz
    Managing Director

  4. nice api, but i have also some question but no contact mentioned anywhere. i applied for access to the dev-group https://www.xing.com/net/xingdevs/ but no feedback so far.

and like for the xauth “…, please contact the API team.” – hm, where/who is the api team?!

so if you open a api for beta users, i really believe that a contact (email, forum, …) would be helpful.
